Easter Lilies are in full bloom this year, with the early onset of the summer.

Lilium longiflorum is often called the Easter lily, is a plant endemic to both Taiwan and Ryukyu Islands in Japan.  Lilium formosanum (as the name suggests) is a closely related species from Taiwan (called Formosa earlier)  has been treated as a variety of Easter lily in the past. It is a stem rooting lily, growing up to 1 m high. It bears a number of trumpet shaped, white, fragrant, and outward facing flowers. The plant and flowers have a religious significance as well, as they are believed to be the flowers that sprung up in the Garden of Gethsemane after Jesus prayed there a day prior to his crucifixion.
