While walking around relatively unspoiled natural surroundings early yesterday, I saw this beauty. Sinuous and lissome, she was just crossing my path. I let her pass. In India there are only 5 types of venomous snakes: Cobras, Russell’s viper, Krait , Saw scaled viper and the Bamboo pit viper, the rarest of the lot. All other varieties are non venomous. Unfortunately herpetophobia is widespread and ubiquitous.

Most men kill the snake on first sighting, which is ridiculous and hurts humans more in the long run. Snakes are a friend for the farmer, feeding on so many insects and rodents that are the real pests.
