Every single time I see this beautiful nocturnal bloom of a flower aptly called “Queen of the night“, Epiphyllum oxypetalum,  I am impressed by its connotation, a subtext that we in our obsession with the superficial, tend to overlook. No matter how much we may admire, appreciate and even covet it, beauty (and life, too) is inherently ephemeral, evanescent and all that it leaves behind is memories, pictures and a transient faint fragrance of its fugacious existence amongst us.
