Ghazals Introspective melodies

A shared (mis)fortune….

I heard this song last evening after months. The album released some 30 odd years ago, a coming together of two of the best in the business, Lata Mangeshkar and Jagjit Singh. The album was called Sajda.

The entire album has many memorable melodies and I like this one a bit more. An amazing duet about a shared fortune, one of pain and suffering. https://youtu.be/fSFJdaJjeLM

Very rarely will you find a celebration of suffering expressed so beautifully. A simple, uncomplicated verse that should not pose any issues to the listener. Jagjit Singh sang this ghazal solo as well, in many of his live concerts and if you’ve not heard the original you’d not guess it is a duet. https://youtu.be/6bbgjiYq9cE

Have a wonderful Monday morning and a productive week ahead. Stay healthy and happy.

Superb. Lataji of course is incomparable, but Jagjitji seems totally involved and dedicated. So touching, the words (the little I could make out). I felt the duet was softer than the solo and perhaps it was meant to be so. Also, liked your wishing ‘productive week ahead’.
