The sad news arrived yesterday on the social media. An articulate, jovial, rational human who was honest enough to call a spade a spade had succumbed to a cruel , gnawing illness that had refused to give in to all that the physicians threw at it since years. He himself spoke of his travails in the course of his frequent talks. I had advance notice last Friday itself of what was in store. He wasn’t the atheist but definitely an iconoclast of sorts.

In his death he had shown everyone how to not just be alive, but to live fully as well. His last visit to the country of his origin (he considered it his motherland too) had been fulfilling and satisfying to him.

RIP, you crusty and lovable old fox. You can now finally give your aching bones a well deserved rest. The world will go on in its bumbling ways. Man will go on making the same old mistakes…
