Relatively cloudless skies and a brilliant सप्तमी moon gave me an opportunity to explore the Selene landscape once again.
.
For the poet at heart, a powerful telephoto lens or a good telescope is a bit of a disappointment. The fair, radiant countenance is so terribly pock marked with thousands of impacts from flying rocks of varying sizes that have left Earth’s twin scarred forever.

This variety of Hibiscus rosa sinensis is the largest one of the 12 we have at home. The flower is nearly 20 -22 cm in diameter. The saddest part is that this perennial bloomer is almost odourless.
.
Or maybe it doesn’t need to be fragrant to attract it’s many fans.

The lovely picture of a road lit up in golden hues was sent by a friend Shri Anoop Sood from Shimla. It evoked the couplet and reminded me of a famous poem.

The flip side of solitude. Having to stay by yourself for too long without any interaction with others may make one incapable of simple human activity.
.
Gomphrena globosa, commonly known as globe amaranth, is an edible plant from the family Amaranthaceae.  The rounded, globular inflorescence is a striking, visually dominant feature of the plant that has been engineered by selective cultivation to get shades of magenta, purple, red, orange, white, pink, and lilac. Within the flowerheads, each individual flower is quite small and inconspicuous.
.
Gomphrena globosa is originally from Central America, but is now grown globally. As a tropical annual plant, G. globosa blooms continuously throughout summer and early fall. It is very heat tolerant and fairly drought resistant, but grows best in full sun and regular moisture. This is one of my earliest tele pics and I love it. I was able to zoom only on the single inflorescence with the vegetation in the background getting blurred to a uniform, formless green.

Podranea ricasoliana, called the pink trumpet vine, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Podranea, native to South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia. It is widely distributed through many countries as a garden plant. The pink trumpet vine grows as an evergreen, vining shrub with woody and twining stems, lacking tendrils, and can become 5 m tall. The pink flowers have reddish stripes in the center, veined darker in the throat, are in terminal panicles, are bell-shaped, five-lobed (while slightly two-lipped)
.
The flowers have this impressive, delicate design from various shades of pink.

The sun set in the dense clouds which massed in the skies, much above the horizon. It made for an interesting spectacle. The warm glow of the sun suffusing the skies in hues of molten gold, the dark dense clouds acquiring a luminous edge.

The indescribable magic of the golden hour.
.
The sky is suffused with molten gold. The horizons stay lit for a period that extends beyond the sunset, and before the sunrise.

A fairly capable mobile camera, a steady hand, a head full of ideas, clean unpolluted skies almost completely free of clouds and a cool , almost chilly breeze that sent a shiver down the spine, meant I had to make an effort to not allow the camera shake while attempting to snap the starburst skies.
.
The effect is here to see.
.
This will surely mean more sleepless nights for one more reason. But I will do it the next opportunity with a tripod, SLR and long exposures.

The slender and delicate fronds of the firecracker plant’s vine like stems spilled over the compound wall in linear thin structures. The flowers were small, tubular and extremely delicate. This is the Russelia Equisetiformis, “Alba”, aka Russelia Juncea.
.

Russelia can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs, with arching, almost leafless, thin wiry stems and clusters of tubular red, pink or white flowers. Russellia Equisetiformis is actually a native of Mexico. It is an evergreen shrub with arching stems of 1m or more, bearing small, scale-like leaves that soon fall, and 3 cm. long, red tubular flowers in pendent clusters from Spring to Autumn. ‘Alba’ bears white flowers.
